Visually illustrating technical remediation strategies for an international consultancy firm.

Arcadis, a leading global design and consultancy firm for natural and built assets, approached Heard to launch a new and complex service offering. PFASs, short for poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances, are a group of man-made chemicals that were previously manufactured and used for various consumer and commercial purposes, along with in firefighting foams.

Decades of the use and disposal of these products has led to near worldwide presence of the chemicals worldwide, with potential to seriously harm the environment and human health. Arcadis engaged Heard to launch their PFAS remediation campaign, rolling out LinkedIn assets, brochures and a microsite to inform their industry-specific target audiences of the dangers of PFAS.

Our rollout required a microsite, and to make the information more visually appealing, we positioned the technical copy within a highly visual and image-heavy design, focusing on the four materials with large hero images. Designing an incredibly dynamic website, the result is a ‘scrolly-telling’ experience that takes the audience on a visual journey. The resulting Arcadis collateral is as visually engaging as it is informative.

The same information and graphical design style followed in the Master Brochure and four sub-brochures, one for each of the various materials that Arcadis offers PFAS remediation in: concrete, soil, water and foam. In order to break up the complex and highly technical language, we designed a series of infographics, as well as helpfully calling out important statistics in a bracket-style graphical device.

Due to the success of the Australian campaign, Heard was again engaged to roll the campaign out to their extensive global network.
